Protecting our customers against fraud is one of our top priorities. Staying up to date on the latest fraud trends and scams is crucial to avoid becoming a victim of fraudsters or incurring financial losses.
Fraudsters are using deceptive methods to target bank customers by exploiting UAE Pass authentication and mobile SIM takeover schemes. Protect yourself and your bank account by staying informed and vigilant.
What is UAE Pass?
UAE Pass is the UAE’s secure digital identity system that allows individuals to access government and private services online.
It also enables digital document signing with legal validity.
Your UAE Pass is private and should only be used by you.
How UAE Pass Fraud Works
- Deception Tactics: Fraudsters pose as government officials, bank staff, or law enforcement to gain customers’ trust or create unreasonable sense of urgency to pressure their victims into complying with their deceptive directives.
- UAE Pass Manipulation: Fraudsters deceive customers into approving fraudulent UAE Pass requests, granting them unauthorized access to banking and financial applications.
- Mobile SIM Takeover: Fraudsters trick customers into approving SIM swap requests, controlling mobile numbers and receiving critical banking verification codes.
Example of Fraud Attempt
A fraudster pretending to be a law enforcement officer calls a customer, claiming urgent action is needed to avoid penalties, legal issues, or freezing of bank account, etc.
They guide the customer to approve a UAE Pass request and provide personal information.
Soon after, they use the approved access to take over the customer’s banking credentials or perform unauthorized transactions.
How to Keep Your UAE Pass Safe
- Always confirm the authenticity of any call / message claiming to be from a government entity or service provider. No government entity or service provider will call you and request you to act in urgency.
- Ensure the UAE Pass authentication request matches the entity you are dealing with.
- Do not approve UAE Pass or Mobile SIM related requests unless you initiated the process.
- Do not share sensitive details like your Emirates ID, passwords, or PINs with anyone.
- Enable UAE Pass app notifications and monitor activities on your account.
What to Do If You Suspect Fraud
- Immediately decline any unauthorized/suspicious UAE Pass or Mobile SIM-related approval.
- Contact Mbank to report suspected fraud on 600571111, +971-2-412-2222, or info@mbankuae.com.

Your UAE Pass is a key to your digital identity.
Safeguard it the way you would protect your physical ID or ATM card.
Always remain cautious and vigilant against fraud attempts.
